Job Overview

The General Counsel is a key leadership role within our organization, responsible for providing strategic and practical advice on corporate, commercial, and technology law matters.

This includes advising on a range of business arrangements, including technology contracts, sales opportunities, and corporate & commercial work to support our operations.

The General Counsel will work closely with senior stakeholders to develop and implement legal strategies that align with the company's objectives.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level legal advice on corporate, commercial, and technology matters
  • Manage the company's insurance portfolio and leasing arrangements from a legal perspective
  • Support the People & Culture team on IR / ER issues as required
  • Negotiate major deals in conjunction with Sales or Line of Business personnel
  • Manage all litigation for the company and provide pre-litigation advice
  • Assist relevant commercial personnel with the preparation of responses to customer tenders
  • Train Sales and Account Management personnel on legal risks such as Australian Consumer Law and Privacy
  • Supervise the senior legal professionals in business as usual and project work
  • Lead and manage the legal team through regular 1:1s, coaching, and performance development conversations

Requirements
  • Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in NSW (circa 10+ years PQE)
  • Experience as either a General Counsel or a Senior in-house Lawyer in a fast-paced environment
  • Commercially focused experience is highly desirable
  • Ability to take ownership of multiple responsibilities, including Company Secretary duties
