About the Role
The Head Chef will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our residents. This will involve leading a dynamic catering team and overseeing kitchen operations to ensure that all meals are prepared to the highest standards.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in commercial cookery and experience in leading catering operations in hotels or aged care facilities. They will also have a proven track record of coaching and mentoring others, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee kitchen operations, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner service
- Conduct staff management, including rostering, attendance, training, development, and performance management
- Oversee special catering events and provide culinary instruction and/or demonstrations
- Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and professional standards
- Ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance, and maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment
- Ensure staff maintain high standards of personal hygiene and comply with food safety procedures
- Ensure regular cleaning of all areas is maintained by catering employees
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery qualification
- Food Safety/Hygiene certification
- Extensive experience leading catering operations in hotels or aged care facilities
- Demonstrated knowledge of catering for complex care needs and commercial kitchen operations
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team and experience coaching and mentoring others
- High-level written and verbal communication skills
- Well-developed computer and documentation skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- A valid National Police check (specific to work in aged care)
- A COVID-19 vaccination certificate
