Working with vulnerable children and families requires a unique blend of sensitivity, respect, and cultural understanding. As an Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker, you will be working to ensure the safety and well-being of children in various locations across the Murrumbidgee District.

About the Role

This role involves building positive relationships with parents, family members, children, or young people, while also working collaboratively with other agencies to address complex problems. You will assist families in identifying and addressing safety concerns, and provide support through home visits.

  • You will work closely with high needs and high-risk clients and their families, managing cases and developing safety plans.
  • You will be involved in court processes, including preparing documents and attending court.
What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication skills, be confident, curious, and resilient. The essential requirements include:

  • A relevant diploma or degree qualification is preferred; alternatively, applicants without a relevant qualification require at least two years' experience working with vulnerable children and their families.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships supported by effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • A valid driver's licence and a paid working with children clearance number are also required.
  • Documented verification of Aboriginality is necessary to confirm your identity as an Aboriginal person of Aboriginal descent.
