The role of an Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker is to work sensitively and respectfully with parents, family members, children or young people.

Key responsibilities include working collaboratively with other agencies and engaging in complex problem solving, assisting families in formulating goals that align with their needs, addressing safety and well-being concerns, and providing appropriate assistance through home visits.

Caseworkers are also responsible for developing safety plans and completing risk assessments, managing cases and situations including working with high needs and high-risk clients and their families, being involved in court processes, including the preparation of court documents and attending court, participating in individual and group supervision.

They require strong communication skills, a valid driver's licence, a paid working with children clearance number and documented verification of Aboriginality. The ability to build positive working relationships and work effectively in a team environment is essential. This position requires an identified role open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons.
