Senior Liability Underwriter Role

As a seasoned Senior Liability Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in assessing and mitigating complex liability risks. This challenging opportunity will allow you to leverage your expertise in general insurance underwriting principles and techniques to deliver tailored coverage solutions for our clients.

Reporting to the Underwriting Team Lead, you will work closely with account management and business development teams to craft customised insurance policies that meet the unique needs of our clients. Your exceptional communication skills and ability to negotiate effectively will be essential in building strong relationships with agents, brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite liability insurance risks, adhering to underwriting guidelines and standards.
  • Liaise with account management and business development teams to support account management and procurement.
  • Support and mentor team members, providing guidance as appropriate and taking responsibility for personal development.
  • Support the management of the liability portfolio across underwriting processing and credit management, documentation issuance, and general servicing and management of liability risks.
  • Build and develop relationships with customers (internal and external), including partner agent and broker visits to nurture relationships and opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Solid experience in general liability underwriting, insurance risk management, or related roles.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with insurance agents, brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in evaluating general insurance risks and determining coverage terms.
  • Problem-solving abilities to address complex underwriting scenarios and negotiate terms with stakeholders.
  • Customer-centric approach to understanding client needs and providing responsive service.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Pricing and Portfolio Management. An insurance qualification, e.g., ANZIIF Cert IV, is highly desirable.
