Bushfire Mitigation Expertise
The Bushfire Mitigation Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting rural fire service districts with their operational and organisational functions. This position is responsible for coordinating mitigation strategies and education programs for brigades, aligning with statewide bushfire mitigation frameworks.
Key responsibilities include managing the Fire Warden network, implementing and operationalising the Permit to Light System across the District, and contributing to district-wide and department-wide program planning, implementation, and evaluation.

This role involves leading by example and modelling values and behaviours in the delivery of responsibilities, including:
Planning and executing bushfire mitigation strategies and activities across the district.Leading, managing, and mentoring Bushfire Mitigation Officers and staff to support brigades and partners in delivering bushfire mitigation activities.Undertaking Chief Fire Warden duties in the absence of the Chief Fire Warden and mentoring Area Managers and Brigades on bushfire operations.Managing the Fire Warden network across the District, overseeing appointments, induction, training, and dispute resolution.Managing the Permit to Light Fire system and collaborating with the Bushfire Mitigation Unit to identify, implement, and evaluate strategies to enhance its functionality.Supporting bushfire risk data management through trend analysis, non-compliance identification, and serving as the District liaison for partners and stakeholders.Managing bushfire mitigation regulatory tools, including fire bans, and assisting with fire investigations and enforcement notices.Coordinating the District Bushfire Committee and facilitating forums, networks, and working groups for collaborative bushfire and emergency management approaches.-
