About the Role

Citywide is seeking highly skilled and experienced individuals to join our team as Parks and Open Space Maintenance Professionals. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day review, maintenance, and repair of parks and open space assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance, installation, and repair of parks, landscape features, path networks, fencing, decking, shade structures, sports courts, benches, bollards, and other park assets.
  • Inspecting playgrounds and surrounding areas daily for hazards and litter.
  • Conducting audits and repairs of playgrounds and open spaces.
  • Checking uprights and supports, condition of steps, decking, and handrails, checking of fittings, shade structures, soft fall, and rubberised surfaces.
  • Undertaking inspections for specific issues including functionality of equipment, stability, wear & tear, surfaces, and supports.
  • Monitoring tree condition in open space areas.
  • Facilitating events in parks as required, including pre-event site inspections, litter collection, and placement of bins.
  • Using and maintaining machinery such as tractors, loaders, small plant equipment, and tools.
  • E nsuring work carried out is compliant with regulations, policies, and procedures.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • AHCPGD Conduct Visual Inspection of Park Facilities – Highly Desirable.
  • AHCPGD Conduct Operational Inspection of Park Facilities - Highly Desirable.
  • Trade certificate AQF Level 4 or equivalent.
  • Experience using tools and machinery.
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and problem-solving.
  • Team-orientated as well as able to work autonomously.
  • Police Check Clearance.
  • Victorian Employment Working with Children Check.
  • Current valid Victorian Driver's Licence.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current valid Victorian Medium Rigid Driver Licence.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Traffic Management.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good timekeeping skills.
  • Must be team-orientated, highly motivated, and able to follow instructions.
