About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Park Maintenance Team Leader to join our team at Monash Council. As a key member of our landscape and playspace team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality maintenance services for our open space assets.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a range of landscape assets using sound horticultural skills.
  • Operating and performing minor maintenance on horticultural and landscape plant and equipment.
  • Carrying out playground maintenance and repairs.
  • Working cooperatively with team members, stakeholders, and contractors.
  • Ensuring compliance with organisational obligations under the OHS Act and relevant Council policies and procedures.
  • Conducting minor landscaping and restoration work.
  • Naturestrip reinstatements, timber fencing/bollard installation.
  • Unsealed path maintenance/construction.
About You:

To be successful in this role, you will be highly motivated, friendly, approachable, flexible, and hardworking. You will be a team player who is looking to develop leadership skills and use your sound horticultural knowledge and skills combining this with your passion for horticulture and working in a constantly changing environment.

You will also have:

  • A minimum Certificate III in Horticulture (Landscaping/construction) or equivalent with demonstrated experience.
  • Experience in a mix of hard and soft landscape maintenance and equipment operation.
  • A commitment to occupational health and safety and quality control processes.
  • A current manual Victorian drivers' license.
  • A medium Rigid Truck license or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • A Skid steer loader license or willingness to obtain within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Traffic management accreditation and demonstrated experience.
  • Basic carpentry trade skills.
  • An understanding of the requirements in providing safe playground facilities and relevant inspection training or willingness to obtain within the first 3 months of employment.
