Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Melbourne Parks Waste Management Specialist to join our team in Melbourne.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, face-to-face position that requires presence, professionalism, knowledge, and a strict adherence to City of Melbourne and Serco expectations in relation to waste management and cleansing within Melbourne's high-profile and highly used Open Space network.

The successful candidate will have experience in the use and maintenance of rubbish compactors (rear lift), parks and gardens waste management experience, and/or litter collection experience is preferable. You will also be able to work unsupervised, communicate effectively with a variety of people from the general public to senior managers, and accommodate changing priorities and respond flexibly to uncertainty and ambiguity at times.

Key Responsibilities
  • To maintain high standards of cleanliness and tidiness in all areas of the open spaces under our care.
  • To operate rubbish compactors (rear lift) and other equipment as required.
  • To participate in the development and implementation of waste management strategies and plans.
  • To provide excellent customer service to the public and stakeholders.
Requirements

To be successful in this position, you will need:

  • A current Light/Medium Rigid Drivers Licence.
  • Experience in the use and maintenance of rubbish compactors (rear lift).
  • Parks and gardens waste management experience and/or litter collection experience is desirable.
  • The ability to work unsupervised.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
