The Role

The Payroll Assistant is accountable for the payment of fortnightly paid staff and to ensure that employees are paid their entitlements. The role involves controlling all facets of the fortnightly payroll processes and the distribution of payroll reports and payments in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Controlling all facets of the fortnightly payroll processes
  • Distributing payroll reports and payments in a timely manner
  • Liaising with managers, timekeeping and payroll software suppliers, and government agencies
  • Receiving, checking, and processing EmpLive computer data files and manual timesheets
  • Paying expenses due and deducting amounts as required
  • Updating the HR3 payroll program and distributing pays to staff
  • Maintaining employee records, award interpretations, rates, and public holidays
  • Providing training and support to staff
  • Ensuring personnel records are complete, including salary, personnel files, sick leave, recreation leave, rostered day off, and other leave records
  • Assisting with workers' compensation claims and occupational health and safety

Requirements

  • Experience in a similar role or as a Payroll Assistant
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • High level of communication skills, both written and verbal
