Job Title: Payroll Assistant

Company Overview:

The Role:

The Payroll Assistant will report to the PAO and be accountable for the payment of fortnightly paid staff, ensuring employees receive their entitlements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Controlling all facets of the fortnightly payroll process and distributing payroll reports and payments in a timely manner.
  • Liaising with managers, timekeeping and payroll software suppliers, and government agencies.
  • Receiving, checking, and processing EmpLive computer data files and manual timesheets.
  • Paying expenses and deducting amounts as required (e.g., union dues, superannuation).
  • Updating the HR3 payroll program and distributing pays to staff.
  • Maintaining employee records, award interpretations, rates, and public holidays.
  • Being the point of contact and training staff when necessary.
  • Ensuring personnel records are complete, including salary, personnel files, Sick Leave, Recreation Leave, Rostered Day Off, and other leave records.
  • Assisting with Workers Compensation claims and Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Liaising with Workers Compensation Insurers and Agents regarding file management and payment.
  • Liaising with the PAO and General Counsel regarding Workers Compensation claims and OHS matters.

The Person:

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Assistant with:

  • Experience in a similar role or as a Payroll Assistant.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • High level of communication skills, both written and verbal.
