Role Summary:

Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre seeks a skilled Business Manager to lead and manage human resource practices for the parent and sub-campuses.

About the Role:

The successful applicant will oversee a breadth of human resource activities, including recruitment, induction, training, vacancy processing, skill gap analysis, performance management, workforce planning, and rehabilitation processes. They will also provide facilities management advice and project management, evaluating new work and renovation projects in collaboration with the Principal, negotiating with external contractors, making recommendations and decisions in collaboration with the Principal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage conflicting priorities to ensure strategic and sustainable business service outcomes.
  • Undertake day-to-day supervision and management of school support staff, monitoring workloads and employee performance.
  • Provide leadership in the provision of executive and administrative support services, interpreting departmental policies and overseeing training and professional development for school support staff.
  • Oversee human resource activities, providing strategic solutions to a breadth of human resources issues that are routine and non-routine in nature.
  • Contribute to decision-making activities of the school management team, particularly with regard to providing input about human resource issues and the efficient and effective provision of corporate services to support school operations.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate considerable autonomy and play an important role in providing advice that dictates business service delivery outcomes, inspires change and models best practices.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of processes and work practices.
  • Have a strong understanding of human resource principles and practices, including recruitment, selection, performance management, and industrial relations.
  • Be able to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
