Health and Safety Specialist Role

We are seeking an experienced Health Safety and Sustainability professional to join our team as a Health Safety and Sustainability Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and influencing the safety and sustainability agenda at our manufacturing site.

• This role involves promoting safe work outcomes for our team, customers, and suppliers by supporting the development and implementation of world-class health and safety practices.
• The coordinator will drive the effective implementation of all occupational health, safety, and sustainability policies, procedures, and initiatives ensuring they are embedded into daily operations.
• The position requires coordinating the implementation of all policies and procedures related to occupational health and safety standards.
• As part of this role, you will assist in deploying our company's health, safety, and sustainability policies to help achieve a workplace free from injury, discrimination, and harassment.
• You will contribute to a strong safety culture by helping to communicate and consult on health, safety, and sustainability initiatives.
• The coordinator will monitor data, trends, and leading indicators to identify opportunities for risk reduction, continuous improvement, and innovation in health, safety, and sustainability practices.
• Providing facilitation, advice, and solutions on health, safety, and sustainability including legislative compliance and risk management is also a key aspect of this role.
• Conduct regular health, safety, and sustainability inspections and audits ensuring findings are addressed promptly and improvements are sustained.
• Facilitating and coordinating WHSE risk assessments, monitoring the implementation of actions, and coordinating periodic risk reviews will be a requirement of this position.
• Administering the WHSE management systems including HSI Donesafe and Chemwatch to track incidents, hazards, and chemical register updates ensuring accuracy and timely action is necessary.
• Actively supporting and coordinating emergency response readiness activities ensuring all team members are trained and prepared is also required.
• Coordinating and assisting in delivering relevant health, safety, and sustainability compliance training for team members will be a key responsibility of this role.
• Collaborating on the development review and continual improvement of standard operating procedures to ensure safety and sustainability best practices are integrated is also a requirement.
• Overseeing workers compensation return-to-work and rehabilitation processes providing case management and maintaining accurate records is also necessary.
• Staying up-to-date on state and federal health safety and sustainability legislation and regulations to ensure compliance and communicating any issues or concerns to the safety and sustainability lead will be a requirement.
• Proactively supporting the development delivery and ongoing refinement of our site's health safety environmental and sustainability strategy is a key aspect of this role.
