Job Title: Support Assistant for Special Needs

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient support assistant to work with a pupil who requires additional help in an inclusive school environment.

  • The ideal candidate will be calm under pressure, patient, and able to build trusting relationships with children who may find the school environment challenging.
About the Role:

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support for a specific pupil throughout the school day, both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide individualised support for the pupil, implementing behaviour strategies as directed by the class teacher and SENCo.
  2. Work closely with external professionals to develop and implement behaviour support plans.
  3. Encourage positive choices and emotional regulation through a trauma-informed approach.
  4. Assist with learning activities and social skills development.
About You:

We are looking for someone with experience in supporting individuals with challenging behaviour, preferably in residential childcare or similar settings. A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach to behaviour management is essential.

A strong communication and teamwork ethos is also required, as you will be working closely with the class teacher and other professionals. If you have a genuine desire to support children to thrive academically and emotionally, we would love to hear from you.
