Midwifery Specialist Role

The role of Midwifery Specialist involves providing compassionate support and assistance to individuals and families experiencing perinatal loss, complex social care needs during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.

About the Opportunity
  • Establish a new service focused on perinatal loss and socially complex care.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen collaboration.
  • Contribute to policy and guideline development for improved patient outcomes.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Partner with education teams to create resources for families.
  • Provide emotional support, guidance, and practical assistance to families experiencing perinatal loss.
  • Empower families facing complex social conditions during pregnancy and postpartum.
  • Guide families through the healthcare system, helping them understand procedures and access necessary care.
  • Advocate for families' needs and rights within the healthcare setting.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery or Bachelor of Midwifery degree.
  • Current registration with AHPRA.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant area (desirable).
  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership and mentorship capabilities.
