Gas Operations Utility Worker Role

This position offers the opportunity to join a team dedicated to ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. The role involves working in various locations throughout the PG&E service territory, including Northern, Central Valley, and Southern regions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing construction and maintenance tasks on gas lines and underground electric infrastructure. This includes hand excavation, loading and unloading equipment and materials, and maintaining tools and equipment according to safety standards and procedures.

In addition to technical skills, the ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a strong commitment to safety and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform construction and maintenance tasks on gas lines and underground electric infrastructure.
  • Hand excavate in an ergonomically safe manner.
  • Load and unload equipment and materials.
  • Maintain tools and equipment.
  • Work safely at all times as defined by PG&E's safety standards and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 90 pounds.
  • Must pass Utility Worker Training course within the first three weeks of employment.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in construction such as Underground Utility, Trenching Equipment, Welding, Carpentry, Plumbing, Pipefitting, Farm Ranch Hand, and/or Landscaping.
  • Knowledge of Pipeline Coating.
  • Previous Military experience.
  • Graduation from a PowerPathway Program is preferred.
  • Current or past work experience with PG&E and/or Hiring Hall.

About this Opportunity:

This role requires a high level of physical fitness and the ability to work in all types of weather extremes. The successful candidate will also need to possess a valid Class C California Driver's License (or higher) by Day 1 of hire, and obtain a Class A California Driver's License Permit within 3 months of hire.

This is a General Construction position that involves travel and transfer to new headquarters upon request at any time. The individual must be able to drive safely, work extended hours, and wear company-provided PPE.
