Defence Training Leadership Role
As a key figure in the delivery of defence training programs, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the development and execution of complex instructional designs.

You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive analyses to identify capability gaps and inform training strategies, designing, developing, and evaluating instructional materials aligned to recognised methodologies, delivering high-quality training programs in both face-to-face and blended environments, utilising Defence learning management systems to manage and track learning content, collaborating with stakeholders across services to ensure training outcomes are aligned with Defence capability objectives, applying project management principles in training development initiatives, supporting the integration of simulation systems and digital learning technologies into courseware, and more.
We are seeking an experienced defence training professional with a strong background in instructional design, course delivery, and training evaluation, as well as experience working with Defence-specific learning platforms and simulation-based training.
This is a mid-senior level role that requires a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent), active security clearance (minimum), and a minimum 10 years' experience delivering defence-related education and training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive Training Needs Analyses (TNA) to identify capability gaps and inform training strategies.
- Design, develop, and evaluate instructional materials aligned to recognised methodologies.
- Deliver high-quality training programs in both face-to-face and blended environments.
- Utilise Defence learning management systems to manage and track learning content.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across services to ensure training outcomes are aligned with Defence capability objectives.
- Apply project management principles in training development initiatives.
- Support the integration of simulation systems and digital learning technologies into courseware.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience working with Defence-specific learning platforms and simulation-based training.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent).
- Active security clearance (minimum).
- Minimum 10 years' experience delivering defence-related education and training.

Location:
This role is based in Canberra, with regular domestic travel to Mawson Lakes (Adelaide), and potential short-term travel to Newcastle and Darwin.
