Project Planner Role Overview

Job Title: Project Planner

Our organization is seeking a skilled project planner to contribute to our construction and planning team. As a project planner, you will be responsible for balancing a dynamic and exciting construction program across teams to ensure best outcomes for the current program of work while also looking ahead to 2 and 5 year horizons.

About Us:

Our organization is part of the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. We are responsible for achieving our organization's Antarctic goals, which include maintaining the Antarctic Treaty System and enhancing our influence within it, protecting the Antarctic environment, understanding the role of Antarctica in the global climate system, and undertaking scientific work of practical, economic and national significance.

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Planner will be responsible for the preparation and management of the integrated project planning within the infrastructure team. This includes managing a comprehensive schedule control system, including day-to-day planning activities and advanced planning, scheduling, progress measurements, change management implementation and analysis for a complex project.

In this role, you will support the building and updating short- and long-term construction project planning, establish a framework for all project planning activities, review and update existing project plans to optimize use of labour and materials, assist with annual maintenance plans, provide reporting to project managers, utilize project planning systems, plan and schedule specialist projects when required, contribute to the establishment of new project governance initiatives, and champion a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need demonstrated experience in long term and short-term planning to support forecasting resources and budgets, demonstrated experience in project controls and time/schedule management, proficient experience with MS Office Suite, MS Visio and MS Project, and understand and use project performance indicators used to measure project progress.
