About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Home Affairs is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of NEMA Supervisor, Culture and Retention. This role will play a critical part in enhancing the culture and retention of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement organisational culture enhancement and retention initiatives to improve staff engagement and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director Culture and Retention to develop and implement branch recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Identify and implement wellbeing and WHS strategies and practices in conjunction with the NEMA Wellbeing and Conditions team to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Develop and implement mental health support initiatives to promote staff wellbeing and resilience.
  • Improve branch communications through the development of effective communication strategies and channels.
  • Design development pathways for branch team members to enhance their skills and career progression.
Requirements
  • A positive mindset and a strong commitment to enhancing the culture and retention of the NEMA team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with stakeholders.
  • Flexibility and resilience, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and circumstances.
  • A demonstrated history of flexibility and resilience, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • The ability to hold, or gain, an NV1 security clearance and satisfy AFP building access requirements.
