About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Home Affairs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director, Intelligence Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Crisis Analysis and Planning Section, you will play a critical role in providing strategic advice and analysis to support the development of national crisis plans and the coordination of Commonwealth non-financial assistance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of analysts in the development of high-quality intelligence products, including crisis assessments and strategic plans.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure the integration of analysis products with existing systems, including the National Joint Common Operating Picture (NJCOP).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including state and territory governments, to ensure NEMA operational outcomes.
  • Enhance the analytical capability within NEMA through the development of new analysis methods and the review of existing information and methods.
  • Support the Crisis Appreciation and Strategic Planning (CASP) process by providing high-level advice and briefings to senior leaders.

Requirements

  • A positive 'can do' mindset and a strong ability to work in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise confidently with stakeholders and provide high-level advice and briefings.
  • Relevant analysis or assessment experience, with a strong understanding of crisis management and intelligence analysis.
  • Sound decision-making and judgement, with the ability to provide high-level advice and briefings to senior leaders.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance and satisfy AFP building access requirements.
