Senior Social Worker Opportunity in Cancer Care

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Social Worker to join our dedicated team on a locum contract. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a multidisciplinary setting and is committed to delivering high-level clinical care to patients, families, and carers.

  • This opportunity provides advanced clinical social work services to patients undergoing cancer treatment and their families, supporting them through complex emotional, social, and practical challenges.
  • The selected candidate will deliver leadership, professional supervision, and mentoring to developing clinicians, allied health assistants, and students.
  • Contribution to service development, quality improvement, and research initiatives within the team will be expected.
  • Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team offering high-level advice and integrating the social work perspective into patient care is also required.

About the Role:

  • A recognised degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience in social work practice, ideally with experience in cancer care or another specialty clinical area.
  • Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and leadership skills are essential.
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload with a high level of independence and accountability is necessary.
  • Current driver's licence and relevant vaccinations as per health guidelines are required.
