We are looking for a Clinical Nurse Lead to oversee a new Ipswich Residential AOD Treatment Facility designed to deliver high-quality, specialist residential AOD treatment services for adults aged 18 years and over. The centre will provide a total of 46 beds, comprising 36 beds for residential rehabilitation and 10 beds for withdrawal management and care.

Your Opportunity

In this senior role, you will provide operational guidance and clinical support to a nursing team, work closely with our external stakeholders and provide therapeutic care to clients. The role is based in the Residential facility but will support a team working across both the Withdrawal and Residential units so you will need to be excited by developing a coordinated team.

The position pays $58.00 per hour plus Superannuation and Salary Packaging up to $15,900 per year. Although the service will not be operational until the end of November 2025, we are looking for the Clinical Nurse Lead to commence employment as soon as possible, to assist with recruitment and establishment.

What we are looking for

As a qualified Clinical Nurse, you will have a strong background in Mental Health, Human Services, Aged Care, Community Support or similar, with a strong interest in AOD, and a commitment to supporting people dealing with these challenges. You'll be comfortable working in an autonomous role and able to think on your feet and make independent decisions around risk and clinical management.

Clinical Duties include :

  • Oversight and mentoring of our nursing staff – although this team are not direct reports, part of your role will include supervision and support
  • Clinical assessments and effective nursing interventions including GP referrals and liaising with pharmacists
  • Providing intake support and transition of clients into the Residential service including assessment
  • Medication management including documentation and governance
  • Managing regular Nurse Clinics including client check-ups and medication review

You will need to have a tertiary qualification in Nursing and hold current AHPRA registration.

Coupled with your clinical skill set, you will also have :

Ability to guide a group of nursing staff into a cohesive and collaborative teamAn understanding of how Residential Care works and be comfortable in this environment, which can include challenging situationsExcellent rapport building skills – you'll be liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, so strong working relationships are importantA genuine dedication to helping people to reduce their substance use and improve their life journeyA flexible, open, and engaging approach – you'll be working with a range of clients with differing needs and complexitiesStrong communication skills, ability to self-manage and work collaboratively as part of a teamAn inclusive attitude and a background working with diverse groups including CALD, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communitiesGood computer skills and ability to manage administrative tasks, including adding documentation to our CRM (HIVE) and medical system (HELIX)
