About the Role

Local Peoples, a Melbourne and Canberra-based strategic research and design studio, is seeking an experienced Service Designer to join their team. The successful candidate will have extensive human-centered design experience, with expertise in creating service blueprints, system maps, customer journeys, and supporting the execution of product or service delivery.

This role requires strong collaboration and interaction skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects effectively with excellent time management skills. Familiarity with digital transformation and/or omnichannel strategies is also essential.

The ideal candidate will be able to conduct customer research, problem solving, journey mapping, ideation, prototyping, and testing solutions, with a focus on developing and executing end-to-end customer experience strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing and delivering service experiences that meet the needs of customers and stakeholders
  • Collaborating with UX Researchers to conduct design research and provide recommendations on consumer expectations and needs
  • Creating engaging and accessible design artefacts, including service blueprints, system maps, and customer journeys
  • Developing and delivering industry-grade design artefacts for applied research and publication purposes
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current trends in digital and interaction design
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in service design, with a focus on human-centered design principles
  • Strong understanding of design thinking, systems thinking, and agile methodologies
  • Experience working with digital design tools, including Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe XD, CC, and other relevant software
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Australian citizenship and current ASGVA Baseline clearance (or ability to obtain)
