About SBS News and Current Affairs

SBS News and Current Affairs is offering a unique opportunity for recent graduates to join our team as Indigenous Journalism Cadets. This 12-month program is designed to provide hands-on experience in broadcast and digital journalism, with a focus on covering stories that reflect the diversity of Australia's multicultural society.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to SBS News and Current Affairs programs and website through researching, producing, and reporting.
  • Work under the direction of experienced journalists to develop skills in television, radio, and online reporting.
  • Participate in rostered evening and weekend shifts to support the needs of our 24/7 news operation.

Requirements

  • Completed tertiary qualifications in Journalism or a relevant field.
  • Sound knowledge of national and international affairs.
  • Possess effective communication skills, both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to demonstrate determination, initiative, and curiosity in generating story ideas.
