First Peoples Program Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated First Peoples Program Officer to join our team at Oxfam Australia. As a key member of our First Peoples Program team, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of our programs and initiatives that promote the rights and interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Key Responsibilities- Provide administrative and project support to the First Peoples Program team, including coordination of meetings, events, and communications.
- Assist in the development and implementation of program strategies and initiatives that promote the rights and interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, organizations, and government agencies.
- Contribute to the development of reports, proposals, and other documentation that supports the work of the First Peoples Program team.
- Relevant qualifications and experience in a related field, such as community development, social justice, or Indigenous studies.
- Strong understanding of the rights and interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including the United Nations treaties and covenants.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
