Optimizing Cargo Stowage and Vessel UtilizationAs a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods by optimizing cargo stowage and vessel utilization. Your expertise will be essential in creating schedules for vessels, monitoring operations across ports, and addressing disruptions to minimize risks and ensure compliance with regulations.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nautical studies or an equivalent level of seagoing experience, with a minimum of 4-5 years' experience in the operational aspects of the shipping industry. They will also possess practical experience in terminal/shipboard operations, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.We are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for growth and development, and this role is no exception. However, we welcome applications from candidates who are willing to relocate permanently to Melbourne.Key Responsibilities:- Plan and coordinate cost-effective cargo stowage and utilization of ANL and its Consortium members' vessels to ensure all safety requirements are met- Plan and issue schedules of vessels engaged in designated trades in order to optimize asset utilization. Monitor and ensure vessels work through all ports and terminals in the most expeditious and cost-effective manner while initiating remedial action in the event of any disruption to the schedule- Coordinate and provide technical and cost assistance in the carriage of hazardous, break bulk, over-dimensional, and awkward cargo to ensure costs are minimized, ANL exposure to risk is minimized, and statutory requirements are met- Pursue operational efficiency and cost savings through continuous improvement- Obtain vessel specs/stowage structure and vessel limitations from Line Operations Manager/Vessel when vessel phasing inRequired Skills and Qualifications:- Tertiary qualifications in nautical studies or an equivalent level of seagoing Certificate of Competency- Minimum 4-5 years' experience in the operational aspects of the shipping industry- Practical experience in terminal/shipboard operations- Excellent communication and problem-solving skillsBenefits:- Flexible working options- Additional leave days- Paid parental leave- Annual health checks- Social club events- Discounted car parking- Opportunity to participate in volunteer initiatives- Access to learning resources and coursesWhy Join Us?We are committed to providing a diverse and engaging work environment that supports career progression and promotion.
