Drill and Blast Operations Manager

This is a pivotal leadership role within the drilling and blasting process. As a Drill and Blast Operations Manager, you will oversee the execution of drill and blast operations, ensuring safe and efficient production while maintaining strong focus on safety and environmental responsibility.
Main Responsibilities:- To effectively utilise personnel and equipment in meeting production plans and targets.
- To communicate drill and blast requirements at pre-start meetings to ensure alignment across teams.
- To coordinate work-crew responsibilities, guaranteeing employees are aware of changes and possess the necessary skills to complete tasks.
- To enforce adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures among all employees.
- To provide technical advice and expertise on Drill & Blast operations, deliver training and guidance as required, and promote a culture of innovation.
- To conduct blast notifications and clearances in accordance with established protocols.
- To monitor shift performance, ensuring drill and blast targets are met, and take corrective action when necessary.
- To report significant deviations from drilling and blasting plans to the Project Lead through written reports.
- To ensure the transportation of blasting materials adheres to statutory regulations using designated vehicles.
- To investigate accidents and incidents as required, identifying areas for improvement.
- To collaborate with the Workshop Manager to plan scheduled maintenance activities and optimise equipment performance.
- To conduct regular audits and inspections of magazines and facilities to maintain high standards.About You / Qualifications
To excel in this position, you should have:
- An unrestricted shotfirers license.
- A proven track record of promoting a safe working environment.
- Experience as a Drill & Blast Supervisor, leading and mentoring teams to achieve outstanding performance outcomes.
- Extensive experience in open pit mining, particularly within Nickel, Copper, Gold, Lithium, or Iron ore sectors, is highly desirable.
