Job Description:

The Drill and Blast Superintendent will lead the drill and blast operations on a rotating roster, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of all drilling and blasting activities in alignment with production targets and site objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily drill and blast operations to align with the mine plan and production schedule.
  • Manage and mentor a team of supervisors and crews.
  • Evaluate strict compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and monitor drilling and blasting performance metrics, promoting continuous improvement in productivity and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with mine planning, production, and geology teams to optimize blast designs and fragmentation.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and quality assurance of drilling and blasting activities, including pattern design, timing, loading, and firing.
  • Ensure effective utilization and maintenance coordination for the fleet of drill rigs.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure high operational and safety standards.
  • Optimize drill and blast costs and support budget preparation.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to site-specific safety management systems.
Qualifications and Experience:

This role requires an individual with extensive leadership experience in hard-rock open-pit mining environments, as well as proven track records in managing large-scale drill and blast operations and contractor performance.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Current WA Quarry Manager's Certificate of Competency.
  • Strong knowledge of blasting software and mine planning tools.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong safety leadership and risk management capabilities.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with lithium or hard rock operations.
