Animal Care Manager Role

The Animal Care Manager position is a key role within our organization, focusing on the Townsville region. As part of this team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.

This role involves working closely with departments and teams to coordinate daily shelter operations, community outreach days, and animal movements. You will also oversee resource utilization, including office use, supplies, and animal-related inventory.

We are seeking an individual who can foster a respectful and inclusive workplace culture through professional communication. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership abilities to motivate staff and volunteers.

About This Role

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure animals and people are cared for in line with RSPCA policies and procedures.
  • Oversee accurate data entry, including animal care inventory, records, and internal data collection.
  • Coordinate transfers of animals from Townsville to other locations and approved facilities.
  • Manage the foster care program within the region and create initiatives for growth.
  • Coordinate offsite adoptions.
  • Oversee resource utilization within the region.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A bachelor's degree in business management or related field (desirable).
  • Driver's license is mandatory.
  • Leadership abilities to motivate staff and volunteers.
  • Familiarity with animal welfare laws and regulations.
  • Training in crisis intervention and emergency response.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Knowledge of animal behaviour, health, and welfare.
  • Strong customer service skills.
