About the role

To build and maintain strong, positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, with a key focus on the Townsville region. You'll work closely with relevant departments and teams to coordinate and support smooth, effective operations—particularly around animal movements and capacity to care. You'll help foster a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture, underpinned by professional communication. As RSPCA Queensland continues to grow its presence in the region, you'll bring a flexible, optimistic, and solutions-focused approach to everything you do. Within this role, you will work with a skilled and driven team consisting of Animal Attendants, Vets and Vet Nurses, Inspectors, and community outreach teams to run daily shelter operations as well as community outreach days.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure animals and people are cared for in line with RSPCA policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and uphold accurate data entry. This includes but is not limited to animal care inventory, animal records and internal data collection which at times may be used in inspectorate investigations
  • Coordinating the transfers of animals from Townsville to other RSPCA locations and approved facilities.
  • Coordinate the foster care program within the region and create initiatives for growth.
  • Coordinate the offsite adoption program.
  • Oversee the effective utilization of resources within the region including office use, office supplies and all animal related inventory.
  • Oversee the animal husbandry requirements of all animals in care within the Townsville region.
  • Oversee the implementation of behaviour initiatives and assessments.
  • Coordinate volunteers, their daily activities and rosters.
About you

You'll be a great communicator with top-notch interpersonal skills. If this is the right role for you, your skills and qualifications may also include:

  • A bachelor's degree in business management, or a related field is desirable.
  • Driver's license is mandatory.
  • Leadership abilities to motivate and guide a team of staff and volunteers.
  • Familiarity with animal welfare laws and regulations.
  • Training in crisis intervention and emergency response.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Animal care knowledge and understanding of animal behaviour, health, and welfare.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with staff, volunteers, and the public.
  • Problem-solving skills to handle crises and make quick decisions under pressure.
  • Strong customer service skills for dealing with the public and resolving issues
