Position Overview

The Shire of Capel is in search of a full-time Engineering Coordinator based in Capel, WA. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the Engineering Services team, ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality engineering results while reporting directly to the Manager of Engineering & Works. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Offering technical guidance and managing the development and execution of strategies for municipal infrastructure and capital projects.
  2. Supervising infrastructure maintenance initiatives, including funding, quality assurance, and adherence to relevant standards.
  3. Managing contract procurement, contractor performance, and compliance for infrastructure initiatives.
  4. Engaging with stakeholders to ensure effective project management, strategic alignment, and robust relationships.
  5. Assisting the Manager of Engineering & Works in decision-making and engineering-related matters.
  6. Driving continuous improvement efforts and developing policies, procedures, and technical documentation for Engineering Services.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in local government, particularly in civil engineering or a related field, with a focus on infrastructure projects and capital works. Additionally, the following qualifications and skills will be highly regarded:

  1. Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
  2. Prior supervisory or leadership experience.
  3. Experience in civil construction.
  4. Strong understanding of local government regulations and Australian standards.
  5. Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, CivilCAD).
  6. Advanced Worksite Traffic Management accreditation.
  7. Expertise in engineering project management.
  8. Experience in contract management, procurement, and contractor relations.
  9. Knowledge of asset management and infrastructure planning.
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation package is competitive and based on skills and experience, with an annual salary of $95,000 - $100,000, along with a range of excellent benefits, including:

  1. Superannuation matching up to 14%.
  2. Relocation assistance up to $7,500.
  3. 4 weeks of annual leave with leave loading and 2 weeks of personal leave.
  4. Monthly Rostered Day Off (RDO).
  5. Flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work opportunities.
  6. Private vehicle use up to 250 km from the Shire.
  7. Salary sacrifice options and a benefits program.
  8. Long service leave transferable within the local government sector (13 weeks after 10 years).
  9. Leadership development programs, on-the-job mentoring, and additional training opportunities.
  10. Education and study assistance with up to $2,000 per semester and 5 hours per week allocated for study.
