About the Opportunity

The Shire of Capel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the Engineering Services team. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of high-level engineering outcomes, while reporting directly to the Manager of Engineering & Works.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide technical advice and manage the development and implementation of strategies for municipal infrastructure and capital works projects.
  2. Oversee infrastructure maintenance programs, including funding, quality control, and compliance with relevant standards.
  3. Manage contract procurement, contractor performance, and compliance for infrastructure projects.
  4. Liaise with stakeholders to ensure successful project management, strategic direction, and strong relationships.
  5. Support the Manager of Engineering & Works in decision-making and engineering matters.
  6. Lead continuous improvement initiatives and the development of policies, procedures, and technical documents for Engineering Services.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need significant experience in local government, particularly in civil engineering or a related discipline, with a focus on infrastructure projects and capital works. Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  1. Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering.
  2. Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  3. Experience in civil construction.
  4. Strong knowledge of local government regulations and Australian standards.
  5. Competency in using engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, CivilCAD).
  6. Advanced Worksite Traffic Management accreditation.
  7. Proficiency in engineering project management.
  8. Experience in contract management, procurement, and dealing with contractors.
  9. Knowledge of asset management and infrastructure planning.
