Electrical Protection Specialist - High Voltage Power Transmission Line

As an Electrical Protection Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and reliable transmission of high voltage power across the grid.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement protection schemes for HV/MV substations, transmission, and distribution networks to prevent equipment damage and ensure continuity of supply.
  • Design and review relay protection settings, logic diagrams, and scheme drawings in compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive studies using industry software (ETAP, PowerFactory, DigSILENT) to optimize protection system performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Liaise with utilities, EPC contractors, and OEMs to select and configure protective relays, CTs/VTs, circuit breakers, and associated control/protection panels.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, including protection reports, single-line diagrams, and functional specifications, to support project proposals and tendering processes.
  • Support the integration of SCADA and communication systems with protection and control systems to ensure seamless data exchange and accurate monitoring.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of AS/NZS standards and WHS legislation, with ability to apply strict permit-to-work procedures.
  • Skilled in protection coordination, SCADA integration, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis of HV/MV equipment.
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with latest advancements in electrical engineering technologies and best practices.
  • Excellent technical troubleshooting skills with attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
  • Will be required to travel to different project sites.
  • May be exposed to hazardous environments and require personal protective equipment.
