About the Role: We seek an experienced Protection and Testing Technician with an interest in advanced learning and skills development. You will join our field service teams, working under supervision from senior technicians on various high voltage projects locally and across Australia.

The sectors include:

  • Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution
  • Industrial, Utilities, Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, Commercial, and Mining

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance, commissioning, fault finding, and upgrades of high voltage systems.
  • Primary testing of instrument transformers, circuit breakers, switchboards, and other high voltage systems.
  • Testing of protection systems including generator, motor, transformer, and cable protections.
  • Training in IEC61850 automation protocol.

Based out of Newcastle NSW, with flexible location options for skilled candidates. Willingness to support other disciplines during heavy workloads is also expected.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work autonomously on protection systems safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in documentation and reporting.
  • Ensure safety standards and company procedures are followed.
  • Collaborate with engineering and planning teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of high voltage and protection systems.
  • Proficiency with computers.
  • Experience with relay testing equipment like Omicron or Doble.
  • Good communication and team skills.
  • Ability to interpret schematics.
