Key Position: Mental Health Practitioner

We are seeking a qualified and experienced mental health professional to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of older adults by providing vital mental health support.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for older adults
  • Develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each client's unique needs
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, caregivers, and family members to ensure holistic care and support
  • Advocate for the mental health needs of older adults within the residential aged care facility
  • Ensure that participants are involved in implementing individual recovery plans as much as possible by facilitating and encouraging them to work toward goals and increase capacity to become more independent.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications for the professions of Psychologist, Social Worker, Counselor, Registered Nurse or equivalent
  • Minimum two years' experience with counseling, psychotherapy, and/or other focused psychological strategies; including working with people with mental health challenges and/or experience in the aged care sector
  • Current membership to a professional body (e.g. AHPRA, AASW or Australian Counseling Association or equivalent), continue to provide membership annually with employment
  • Current NSW Driver's License and own comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid NSW Working with Children's Check for paid employment purposes, NDIS check and certification, Police check
