Job Title: Departmental Specialist

Division Responsibilities:

  • The Home and Residential Division is accountable for delivering tailored aged care solutions to meet the diverse needs and preferences of older people.
  • It oversees reform initiatives aimed at enhancing aged care services provided at home and in residential settings.

Branch Responsibilities:

  • The Home Care and Assessments Branch ensures that older individuals have equitable access to aged care assessments and home care services by developing and implementing evidence-based policies and program improvements.
  • This involves proactive management of the Aged Care Assessment Program (ACAP) and the Regional Assessment Service (RAS), as well as the administration of the Home Care Packages Program, encompassing policy development, program management, data analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.

Section Responsibilities:

  • Home Care Operations The Home Care Operations Section focuses on continuous operational improvement of the Home Care Packages Program, while promoting a deeper understanding of the Program's legislative framework among stakeholders.
  • Home Care Policy The Home Care Policy Section is responsible for ongoing policy development and implementation for the Home Care Packages Program, including enhancements to transparency and comparability of home care pricing, governance, budget measures, and support for in-home aged care reform.
  • Assessment Delivery The Assessment Delivery Section facilitates effective access to aged care assessments for older individuals through proactive program, contract, and quality management of the Aged Care Assessment Program (ACAP) and the Regional Assessment Service (RAS).
  • Monitoring and Analysis The Monitoring and Analysis Section tracks, analyzes, and reports on key aged care performance indicators to inform policy decision-making.

Key Requirements:

  • Completion of an Australian Federal Police criminal history check.
  • A Working with Children and Vulnerable People Check.
  • Completion of a medical declaration and pre-employment medical (where required).
  • Providing evidence of qualifications.
