English Department Leader

Covenant Christian School is a distinctly and explicitly Christian Prep to Year 12 co-educational day school with almost 900 students, located in Sydney's Northern Beaches.

The English Department Leader plays a critical role in implementing the Schools' Vision and Mission within the classroom, coordinating programs of work across the English area, relating to classroom activities and ensuring syllabus content which meets NESA requirements and the school's teaching and learning framework.

  • Implementing curriculum development, planning, and reflective and adaptive classroom practice.
  • Liaising with the Head of Secondary School (HoSS) and Principal for support and guidance.
  • Leading staff in collaborative planning, professional learning and induction, mentoring and development.
  • Facilitating sharing and learning knowledge and skills with and from peers/other teachers.

The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for Christian Education, suitably qualified, and NESA accredited in NSW. They will be able to teach Extension 1 and Extension 2, lead, mentor and develop a team, and develop a culture of learning.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Coordinating programs of work across your KLA relating to classroom activities.
  2. Leading the development, implementation and evaluation of teaching and learning programs.
  3. Leading staff in collaborative planning, professional learning and induction, mentoring and development.

Key Requirements

  • A committed Christian of a reformed evangelical persuasion actively involved in the life of their local church.
  • Able and willing to sincerely affirm the School's Statement of Belief, modelling a lifestyle that reflects Christian practice and beliefs in their everyday life.
  • Genuine passion for, and capabilities in Christian Education, suitably qualified, and NESA accredited in NSW.
