About the Role

This position presents an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Solicitor to join our team and contribute to the delivery of timely, practical legal advice and the management of complex legal matters.

The successful candidate will support the University Solicitor on key projects and priorities, interpret legislation, draft contracts, and represent clients in legal proceedings as needed.

Collaboration with faculties and divisions is essential to proactively manage legal risk and enable informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality legal services and advice.
  • Support senior legal staff on strategic initiatives.
  • Provide expert interpretation of laws and regulations.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts.
Requirements
  • Australia-qualified Solicitor with at least five years' post-admission experience.
  • Current Practising Certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian commercial and administrative law.
  • Demonstrated experience in complex organisations, ideally within higher education.
  • Ability to deliver independent and ethical legal advice.
  • Demonstrated contract negotiation skills.
