Family Support Specialist

At our organization, we provide a range of services to support individuals and families in need. We are currently seeking a skilled Family Support Specialist to join our team.


Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to families, building rapport while maintaining professional boundaries. This will involve assessing family needs through engagement and consultation with the family and information obtained through outcome star, observations, family history, and child safety case plan. Additionally, they will provide practical family support strategies and appropriate modeling of parenting and household skills to strengthen parenting capacity and provide a positive family environment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide family support strategies to strengthen parenting capacity and create a positive family environment.
  • Assess family needs through engagement and consultation with the family and information obtained through outcome star, observations, family history, and child safety case plan.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients in line with FIW and Senior Practitioner direction.
  • Facilitate supervised contact between parents and their children as per intervention plan and provide support to complete relevant reports.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Certificate IV or higher in Community Services (or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to apply feedback in creative and flexible ways to support household and child management in a non-judgmental manner.
  • Highly developed communication skills both written and verbal for working with a broad-based network of service providers and culturally diverse clientele.
