Bitumen Tanker Technician

We are seeking a skilled Bitumen Tanker Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to work with specialized equipment essential to road construction operations.

The primary focus of this role will be on ensuring the reliable and safe operation of bitumen tankers used in road construction and surfacing projects. As a Bitumen Tanker Technician, you will conduct routine inspections, diagnose mechanical faults, and perform preventative maintenance on tank systems, including burners, pumps, valves, and hydraulic components.

A key part of this role will involve maintaining the integrity of heating systems that keep bitumen at optimal temperature during transport and unloading. You will also be expected to carry out welding and fabrication repairs, monitor and calibrate temperature and pressure controls, and ensure all work is completed in line with relevant safety, environmental, and transport compliance standards.

This role will require working both in workshop settings and occasionally on-site, supporting operational readiness and minimizing downtime. Key Requirements include:

  • • Routine maintenance of bitumen tanks and associated equipment (valves, burners, pumps, hoses)
    • Inspecting and repairing heating systems, such as diesel burners or LPG systems, that keep bitumen at the correct temperature
    • Servicing hydraulic systems used for loading/unloading bitumen
    • Checking insulation and structural integrity of tanks to prevent heat loss or leaks
    • Cleaning and flushing tanks to remove bitumen buildup or contamination
    • Testing and calibrating gauges and sensors (temperature, pressure, level indicators)
    • Performing welding, fabrication, and mechanical repairs as required
    • Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, especially due to the flammable and hazardous nature of bitumen
