Job Summary:

The Australian Defence Force is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Drone Pilot Mission Commander. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for commanding drones to enhance situational awareness and support Navy missions and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Launch, operate, fly, and land drones to gather intelligence and conduct surveillance
  • Patrol and investigate areas of interest to gather information and coordinate with the team
  • Search and rescue operations to ensure the safety of personnel and assets
  • Interpret aerial photographs and information from drone sensors and cameras to inform decision-making
  • Plan and execute missions and flights to achieve strategic objectives
  • Conduct pre-flight procedures and inspections to ensure safe and effective operations
  • Identify and respond to weather conditions and other environmental factors that may impact drone operations
  • Conduct post-flight reviews and maintenance to ensure drones are in good working order

Additional Responsibilities:

As an officer in the Australian Defence Force, you will also be responsible for providing leadership, management, and career advice to sailors and junior officers within your division. You will be expected to develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of drone operations, as well as provide guidance and support to team members.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You will also need to have a strong understanding of aviation and technology principles, as well as the ability to interpret and analyze data from drone sensors and cameras.
