Job Summary

The Australian Defence Force is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Mission Support Groundcrew. As a key member of the Australian Army Aviation (AAAvn) Corps, you will play a critical role in providing mobility and aerial reconnaissance support to the Army.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, configure, and operate Combat Radio Systems (CRS), Aviation Mission Systems (AMS), field power generators, and cryptographic equipment.
  • Establish and maintain communications on radio systems, satellite communications, and tactical data networks.
  • Establish and maintain local area networks and gateways.
  • Activate Search and Rescue (SAR) elements and perform flight following procedures in support of aircraft operations.
  • Compile and dispatch aviation reports, aircrew briefing packs, and Intelligence Summaries (INTSUM).
  • Manage and secure flight authorisations, maintain flight following boards and task trackers, and update flying programs and electronic task files.
  • Process correspondence and transfer battlespace information.
  • Compile and update hardcopy and electronic battle maps, and deliver Situation, Current Operations, and Weather briefs.
  • Load cryptographic encryption and Precision GPS codes to Army aircraft.
  • Drive, operate, and maintain vehicles, including night driving procedures, camouflaging, and concealing vehicles and equipment.
  • Set up and operate within Aviation command posts (CP), performing ground-to-air communications with Army Aircraft.
  • Utilize basic soldiering skills to provide for the defence and security of aviation units.
  • Perform ground navigation (vehicle-mounted and dismounted) and interpret and input military tactical symbology onto digital and hardcopy battle maps.
