Aboriginal Strategy and Partnerships Lead

We are seeking a skilled Aboriginal Strategy and Partnerships Lead to support local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through collaboration and engagement. The successful candidate will contribute to the Mara Ngali Agreement between local organisations, building impactful policies and partnerships with Indigenous communities.

This role offers a meaningful pathway to shape policy and strategy impacting local Indigenous communities. The opportunity involves leading initiatives to embed culture and meet Closing the Gap targets, developing relationships, and delivering projects related to employment, procurement, and cultural inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead initiatives to embed culture and meet Closing the Gap targets.
  • Develop impactful policies and build partnerships with Indigenous communities.
  • Deliver projects and reports on employment, procurement, and cultural inclusion.
  • Develop and leverage relationships, partnerships, and networks between Council and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, communities, and relevant government departments.
  • Develop and deliver accurate reporting related to Closing the Gap targets, including Aboriginal cultural inclusion metrics.
Requirements:
  • The applicant must identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent through parentage and be accepted in the community as such.
  • A degree in Social Policy, Community Development, Social Sciences, Community Services, or relevant equivalent experience is required.
  • A Driver Licence and Working With Children's Check (WWCC) are also necessary.
  • Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent with the application is required.
Benefits:

The successful candidate will receive a salary range of Grade 19 - $112,011.74 - $121,200.39 per annum plus superannuation for a 35 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience, and value to the organisation. Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
