SSEQ Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable individual to join our team in a key operational role supporting both day and night shifts.

This is a frontline role providing second-line assurance across all maintenance and construction works. You will work on-site to ensure compliance with our Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality (SSEQ) requirements.

  • Conduct inspections and audits during both day and curfew periods.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with WHS, quality, environmental, and security obligations.
  • Provide advice and coaching on risk controls.
  • Participate in risk workshops, toolbox talks, and pre-start briefings.
  • Assess contractor SWMS, Safety and Quality Management Plans, and permits.
  • Support coordination between projects, maintenance, and operations.
  • Assist with return-to-service tasks after curfew periods.
  • Help implement Sydney Airport's Critical Risk Program, including assurance processes.
  • Identify and support initiatives for ongoing improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to Australian Standards, NCC/BCA, and WHS legislation.
About the Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in construction, engineering, WHS, or a related trade.
  • Experience in construction supervision or compliance roles.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, QA systems, and risk management.
  • Skilled in incident response, inspections, and contractor engagement.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and permits.
  • Familiar with Australian construction standards (e.g. BCA, NCC).
  • Understanding of contractor management, construction safety, and high-risk work frameworks.
  • WHS or Lead Auditor certification (preferred).
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work rotating shifts and manage competing priorities.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to service delivery.
