About the RoleWe're seeking a highly motivated and capable SSEQ Compliance Advisor to join our team in a key operational role supporting both day and night shifts.
This is a frontline position providing second-line assurance across all maintenance and construction works at Sydney Airport.
You'll work on-site to ensure compliance with our Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality (SSEQ) requirements, while partnering with contractors and internal stakeholders to manage interface risks and maintain operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities:- Inspections & Audits: Conduct assurance inspections and audits during both day and curfew periods.
- Contractor Oversight: Monitor contractor compliance with WHS (Work Health and Safety), quality, environmental, and security obligations.
- Provide advice and coaching on risk controls.
- Participate in risk workshops, toolbox talks, and pre-start briefings.
- Documentation Review: Assess contractor SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements), Safety and Quality Management Plans, and permits.
- Coordination & Interface Management: Support coordination between projects, maintenance, and operations.
- Post-Curfew Activities: Assist with return-to-service tasks after curfew periods.
- Critical Risk Program: Help implement Sydney Airport's Critical Risk Program, including assurance processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and support initiatives for ongoing improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Australian Standards, NCC/BCA (National Construction Code/Building Code of Australia), and WHS legislation.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Tertiary qualifications in construction, engineering, WHS, or a related trade.
- Experience in construction supervision or compliance roles.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, QA systems, and risk management.
- Skilled in incident response, inspections, and contractor engagement.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and permits.
- Familiar with Australian construction standards (e.g. BCA, NCC).
- Understanding of contractor management, construction safety, and high-risk work frameworks.
- WHS or Lead Auditor certification (preferred).
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work rotating shifts and manage competing priorities.
