Overview
Role Summary
Gawler Health Service is enhancing its general Paediatric service to cater to the local community's needs. The service includes a 24/7 on-call commitment to the hospital, with neonatal resuscitation on a 1:5 basis alongside internal cover. Conducting health assessments for newborns. Rapid access Paediatric Clinics available Monday to Friday in the mornings. General Paediatric Clinics scheduled Monday to Friday in the afternoons.Clinical Responsibilities
Engage in clinical practice as directed by the Director of Medical Services at Gawler Health Service. Adhere to established policies, protocols, and procedures set forth by the Department, BHFLHN, or the Hospital to ensure high standards of medical practice. Participate in on-call duties, clinical audits, safety and quality activities, and service planning meetings to maintain quality outcomes and standards of practice. Provide a high-quality consultant service to inpatients of Gawler Health Service and affiliated agencies as necessary. Offer after-hours on-call services regularly, following a roster agreed upon with the Director of Medical Services – Gawler Hospital. Maintain comprehensive clinical records documenting all significant patient management decisions. Coordinate follow-up care for hospital patients. Continuously review existing practices and advocate for necessary changes.Teaching Contributions
Support and contribute to ongoing education programs within the hospital in the Maternity Service discipline.Administrative Duties
Prepare reports and statements as requested by the Director of Medical Services. Follow sound business practices as directed by the hospital, adhering to SA Health industrial and administrative guidelines. Engage in an annual performance appraisal process with the Director of Medical Services. Participate in mandatory in-service training programs as determined by SA Health. Seek leave approval through the Director of Medical Services.Fellowship of the RACP (or equivalent) is required, along with eligibility for registration as a Specialist with the Medical Board of South Australia.

Required Checks
DHS Working With Children Check (WWCC) National Police Certificate (NPC) for roles involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position.Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A (Direct Contact with blood or body substances)
SA Health Services are required to implement the necessary protocols in the workplace.
