Available Positions: Multiple Permanent Part-Time roles requiring 1 day of work per week (including on-call duties).

Overview

Position Summary

  • Gawler Health Service is establishing a comprehensive Paediatric service to cater to the local community's needs. This service includes a 24/7 on-call commitment to the hospital, with neonatal resuscitation responsibilities on a 1:5 basis with internal support.
  • Conducting newborn assessments.
  • Offering Rapid Access Paediatric Clinics from Monday to Friday in the mornings.
  • Providing General Paediatric Clinics from Monday to Friday in the afternoons.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Engage in clinical practice as directed by the Director of Medical Services at Gawler Health Service.
  • Comply with policies, protocols, and procedures established by the Department, BHFLHN, or the Hospital to ensure high standards of medical practice.
  • Participate in on-call duties, clinical audits, safety and quality activities, and service planning meetings to maintain quality outcomes and standards.
  • Deliver a high-quality consultant service to inpatients at Gawler Health Service and affiliated agencies as necessary.
  • Provide after-hours on-call services regularly, according to a roster agreed upon with the Director of Medical Services.
  • Maintain comprehensive clinical records documenting all significant patient management decisions.
  • Coordinate follow-up care for hospital patients.
  • Continuously evaluate existing practices and advocate for necessary changes.

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Support and contribute to ongoing education programs within the hospital in the field of Maternity Services.

Administrative Duties

  • Prepare reports and statements as requested by the Director of Medical Services.
  • Adhere to sound business practices as directed by the hospital and within the framework of SA Health industrial and administrative guidelines.
  • Engage in an annual performance appraisal process with the Director of Medical Services.
  • Participate in mandatory in-service training programs as required by SA Health.
  • Seek leave approval from the Director of Medical Services.

Applicants must possess Fellowship of the RACP (or equivalent) and be eligible for registration as a Specialist with the Medical Board of South Australia.

Appointment is contingent upon a satisfactory Criminal History Check and compliance with immunisation requirements.

  • DHS Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • National Police Certificate (NPC) for positions involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups.

SA Health Services are required to implement workplace safety measures.
