Psychological Support Specialist

About the Role:
The Wellness Support Advisor, Rural Clinical Campuses will provide wellbeing care services for UNSW rural students with social, emotional, health and wellbeing needs through triage, assessment and short solutions-based therapy.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Faculty Wellbeing Officer and senior academic and professional staff at local Rural Clinical Campuses sites, as well as local services and other health professionals.
This is a 0.4FTE role and requires the incumbent to work 2 days per week between Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday at Port Macquarie campus and travel to Coffs Harbour campus a minimum of once per month, and other times as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psycho-social needs and risks assessments and undertake short-term therapeutic interventions.
- Provide wellbeing care services for rural students with social, emotional, health and wellbeing needs.
- Work collaboratively with Faculty Wellbeing Officer and senior academic and professional staff at local Rural Clinical Campuses sites.
- Liaise regularly with UNSW Central Services such as Mental Health Connect, Psychology and Wellness, Equitable Learning Service and Student Support Team.
- Support students to navigate program and other administrative processes in a complex environment.
Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant post-qualifying experience in Psychology, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Mental Health Nurse with registration or eligibility for registration with the appropriate accrediting body.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals who have psychosocial support needs such as mental health, chronic physical health and disabilities.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to contribute positively and proactively within a small team.
- Capacity to advocate on behalf of students and support them to navigate program and other administrative processes in a complex environment.
