Strategic Engagement Role Overview

The role of Strategic Engagement Director is a critical position within the Office of the Independent Regulator's leadership team.

This senior leadership role involves providing strategic direction and technical leadership to ensure effective stakeholder engagement and communication across various government and non-government sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for the Office, incorporating emerging stakeholder issues and priorities.
  • Lead the development of a Community of Practice related to Child Safe Standards across Tasmania, ensuring collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Engage with government and non-government stakeholders regarding the Office's functions, organisational compliance, and child-related organisations, fostering strong relationships and trust.
  • Oversee education activities, presentations, and website materials on the Office's operations, ensuring accurate and timely information dissemination.
  • Provide specialised advice on engagement techniques and practices targeting stakeholders and the public, leveraging expertise and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain qualitative and quantitative measures to evaluate stakeholder engagement effectiveness, informing data-driven decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the classification under the relevant award, supporting the Office's overall objectives.

The Director will assist the Independent Regulator in fulfilling responsibilities under legislation, including the Child and Youth Safe Organisations Act 2023, Children, Young Persons and Their Families Act 1997, Youth Justice Act 1997, Right to Information Act 2009, and Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.

Essential Requirements:

  • A current Tasmanian registration to work with vulnerable people, demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding children and young people.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, enhancing knowledge and skills in stakeholder engagement and communication.
  • Current driver's license, facilitating flexibility in job performance and travel.

The Head of State Service requires pre-employment checks before appointment, including National Police Record checks, disciplinary action checks, and identification verification, ensuring candidate suitability and integrity.
