About the Opportunity

The Clinical Psychologist will work within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing recovery support. Clinical services are provided across all mental illnesses. This role is integral as a role model and champion of best practice for the clinical team.

Duties include elements of psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and management planning, psychological therapies, with the potential for individual and group therapy, supporting other clinicians' development and understanding of psychological principles, supervision and mentoring. Regular clinical supervision will be provided by a more senior clinical psychologist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and develop treatment plans
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions
  • Supervise and mentor junior clinicians
  • Contribute to service development and therapy group development
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Clinical Psychologist
  • Area of Practice Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist
  • PBA approved Supervisor status or eligible and willing to work towards same
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in evidence-based psychological therapies
  • Interest in working with consumers with experiences of psychosis, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, personality disorders
  • Extensive experience in conducting holistic assessments and developing treatment plans
  • Advanced skills in working within a Recovery Model and family sensitive practice
  • Relevant training and experience in suicide risk assessment and management, drug and alcohol, and/or personality disorders
  • Highly developed written and verbal skills
  • Highly developed organisational skills, inclusive of advanced time management
  • Continuous ability to problem solve, negotiate and communicate with staff and other service providers
  • Demonstrated advanced capacity for initiative and ability to work with limited direction
  • Enthusiasm for providing supervision and mentoring to junior clinicians
  • Extensive background in working with people and their families where mental illness is a component of their lives
  • Knowledge of the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act and other relevant legislation
  • Commitment to working with service users from various ethnic backgrounds
  • Reputation for inspiring others to deliver high quality clinical care that is timely and person centred
  • Skills in liaison, collaboration and negotiation with other service providers, service users, carer groups and other community agencies
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development
